Giraffe Girl

In this image I wanted to portray a body disfunction (stretched limbs) in an outside view. This through objectification. I'm using a link with fashion to numb the reaction towards the human oddities, stopping people from thinking into their life's and feeling sympathy and sorrow towards them, but instead labelling them and only seeing them as 'Freaks'.
For my Giraffe Girl shoot, like my The Twins shoot, I scouted out for models. I came across a girl named Esme Evans who hadn't actually done much modelling before apart from helping other student photographers. Despite this I felt like physically she looked the right person to do this shoot. I wanted someone very thin and tall to fit the part of Giraffe Girl which Esme did.
For make-up for the shoot I have decided to carry on the monotone, minamilistic theme which I found in research from photographers such as Paul Jung. This I used to base the clothing and make-up design off of. I looked into that not only was very monotone, but also abstract to fit in with the sub theme of contemporary fashion. Me and Shannon, who I asked to do the make up for this shoot both decided on an extreme smokey eye, not only will it them go with the colour theme of the photo but will also black out her eyes, making her appear more like a giraffe.
Photos from the shoot, Uneditted:

I do think that the shoot went very successfully, both the pre-production for the shoot such as make up design and aspects of the lighting and location really performed at its highest. Although I did only use natural light, due to the time of day when I shot it and the location (Shot in front of two glass walls so the location was very open and light) the images have turned out very light and slightly over exposed and washed out which was what I intended. By this, the actual style of photography in which I was seeking was achieved. Also I was really happy with my model choice for this shoot, as although she hadn't done much modelling in the past she was very easy to direct and was confident trying out different positions and poses that I wanted her to do for the shoot. I do feel that this was both due to her confidence as a person and also myself being able to warm her up into the shoot. This I did by discussing plans before we actually started shooting and offering her a drink and some food curtsy of doing the shoot for me, therefore breaking the barriers of photographer and model.
The shoot- The end result:

The outcome of both the photographs have pleased me deeply mainly due to my growth in confidence at editing and manipulating images. I do feel that even being so slightly into my brief, the outcome of it physically on my skills with hunting for models, make up artists and skills like photoshop skills and ability to work with light has improved drastically. This therefore making my images hit the standards that I have initially planned and also will effect other briefs to come.
