The body

For my Giraffe Girl shoot, I want to look into animals and their posture so that I can recreate it in my own shoot. By doing this I am hoping it would make my shoot quite animalistic and strange and so will live up to its title 'Giraffe Girl'. While looking into this subject I have came across photographer Jonathan Macauley who with help from artist Emma Fay used body art to make the human body appear like an animals. This breaking the boundaries between human and species and makes them appear on the same level and seem normal that we have such strong similarities to their bodies. This fits in very nicely with my concept as I want to make someone very animalstic but also numb the shock factor so that there is no emotion towards the image only objectification and alienation.

Viewing these images personally I feel as if the positions of the models and the body art create quite a haunting image which will be interesting if linked to fashion photography which is what I'm doing with my body of work. Although the use of body art has worked really well in this photographers work, due to my colour theme and what I'm trying achieve, I do not think that would be suitable to do. Despite this I do feel as if I could play with the idea of body language and positioning to create a animalistic feel.
