Being a photographer I think it is important to find a wide variety of inspiration, inspiration that is not necessary photographic. By researching into unusual portraiture and extended necks I have came across this body of work by artist Lori Earley who painted surreal portraits of women.

Her elongated subjects originally stuck out to me due to their emotionless soles, you do not feel any emotion towards them due to their reactions being so monotone and relaxed. The viewer feels desensitise towards possible objectification due to the beauty of the subjects and the lack of emotion they hold. I do believe that this artist has painted her subjects as an outsider as essentially she has painted the women and their strange bodies as entertainment. Would the images give off the same interest if they did not have elongated necks?

Posture of them women are interesting, exaggeration

Lori Earley.
