The fashion industry and objectification.

I researched into how the fashion industry objectifies women as items of sex. Despite this i found that we are oblivious to it due to the argument that 'It is fashion', therefore we will continue to look at it with a blind eye. The fashion industry often utilises the human body in sexual representation and so will produce images that do not represent themselves as a brand but instead of a sexual desire.
American Apparel, a mainstream clothing company, uses sexual images to promote their brand. Although the brand mainly appeals to women it hasn't actually caused any controversy, or extreme feminist views as it is ignored as pornography, which is what it essentially is, in replace for what its labelled as, fashion.

Possibly fashion allows a leeway for a photographers to be abstract as they please from an outside perspective, objectifying its subjects in an ethical sense due to what its labelled to be 'Fashion'.
